Part II of a virtual program hosted by UI Pentacrest Museums will focus on an overview of IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering’s current watershed, flood frequency, and climate change studies.

IIHR Director Gabriele Villarini will discuss the evolution of IIHR’s research in water resources engineering. The presentation will include an overview of current research on changes in precipitation, increasing flood frequency, and climate change. What are the impacts of climate change on flood frequency? Villarini will discuss these questions and others, and explore how models can help us better understand the changes in our climate and their impacts.

This program was inspired by IIHR’s centennial exhibition, “A River Flowed Through It: Iowa’s Legacy in Fluid Mechanics,” on display virtually and in-person through Dec. 11, 2021, at the Old Capitol Museum on the University of Iowa campus.
