The BlueGAP Information System (BlueGAP-IS) is a virtual community for sustained and continued engagement with stories and data about nitrogen pollution. Visitors to the BlueGAP-IS can explore additional content from our Alliance members, explore past Academy events, and hear from other members of the BlueGAP community. Users can explore water quality data in their own watershed, and use the BlueGAP Action Planner to identify actions they can take to start improving water quality in their community.

The Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS) is an easy-to-use, Google Maps–based web platform developed by the Iowa Flood Center (IFC). It provides real-time information on watersheds, precipitation, and stream levels for more than 1,000 Iowa communities. IFIS is available to all Iowans.

The Iowa Geological Survey (IGS) supports a variety of online systems to share data directly with Iowans. These systems include:

Interactive maps that provide access to the survey’s vast catalog of publications;

A catalog of publications on the geological resources of Iowa, including groundwater, bedrock, glacial materials, and mineral resources;

GeoSam, which offers key information for every available well, rock exposure, or site of geologic information in Iowa;

GeoCore, which gives users information on the IGS Rock Library;

IGS Pump Test, which offers access to a collection of aquifer pumping test data and results;

GeoLab, which showcases laboratory results from more than 6,000 samples across Iowa; and more!

This project evaluates the flood reduction benefits of existing on-road structures (ORS) in selected HUC12s in Iowa using process-based long-term hydrologic modeling. The project also conducts a statewide GIS-based estimation of the flood storage available through new ORS. ​

The Iowa Watershed Approach Information System (IWAIS) is a key part of the Iowa Watershed Approach. The system allows anyone to view and interact with data related to the project. IWAIS was designed to support and inform decisions related to strategic best management practice (BMP) implementation and the development of community flood resilience.

The Iowa Water Quality Information System (IWQIS) offers access to real-time water-quality data and information such as nitrate, pH, and dissolved oxygen concentrations, discharge rates, and temperature. IIHR’s network of water-quality sensors provides these essential data, which give us unprecedented information on the state of Iowa’s water.

The Missouri River Flood Information System (MRFIS) provides comprehensive information on floods, streamflow and mitigation scenarios, and levee systems that can be easily modified to represent breaches. The MRFIS builds upon the award-winning Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS) that provides real-time flood alerts and forecasts, river levels, weather conditions, and more for the entire state of Iowa.
