The Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) recently held its 2025 Annual Science Meeting, with the University of Iowa actively participating to share its latest advancements in hydrologic modeling and flood prediction research.

CIROH is a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) funded program based out of the University of Alabama that brings together experts from 28 academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government and industry partners across the United States and Canada.

At the 2025 meeting, the Iowa Flood Center (IFC) shared its expertise through presentations, including live demonstrations of streamflow forecasting models. This demonstration was recognized as one of the top favorites at the conference.

IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering and the IFC play a key role in CIROH’s ongoing efforts to advance streamflow forecasting models, produce extensive flood inundation maps, and strengthen a range of tools that enhance the ability to predict water-related hazards and manage water resources.

The University of Iowa continues to leverage its significant advancements in hydrologic modeling to support water management efforts across Iowa and contribute to national initiatives.
